Welcome to the Philadelphia Werewolf: the Apocalypse game!
In Werewolf: The Apocalypse, the Garou—werewolves—were made to defend the earth from the cosmic forces that threaten to tear it apart. The Garou fight against the Wyrm, the destroyer. It is a struggle against nearly insurmountable odds, especially considering the rivalry between many tribes. These rivalries make it almost impossible for the werewolves to present a unified front against a cosmic force that pervades reality.
Rage Across the Pine Barrens is a troupe By Night Studios: Werewolf the Apocalypse game set in modern times in the Pine Barrens located in Southern New Jersey. In this game, players take on fictitious personas as werewolves fighting a losing war against the end of days, with enemies ranging from god like monsters to evil corporations. We play the second Saturday of every month in Ewing, New Jersey (for specific location and time information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
“Cry ‘Havoc!’ and let slip the dogs of war.”
– Marc Antony, Julius Caesar (Act 3, Scene 1)
Located in the infamous Pine Barrens of New Jersey, shrouded by legend and mystery, stands the Sept of Gaia’s Vengeance. After watching their homes, their Septs, burned and flattened by the wars, here Garou and Fera alike have come and found a home and have begun building again what was taken from them. But their memories run deep, and fuels their rage. They know who their enemies are, and they will not stop until they are dust beneath their feet.
In Character History:
In the waning days of 2011, word spread to members of both the Sanctum and the Concordat of Stars that a Garou by the name of Strom the Bold had stolen a Caern Seed from the Sept of Blood Fist and fled into the forests of New Jersey. Word also came that Black Spiral Dancers in the area were planning to waylay him and take the Seed for their own purposes. The founding packs flocked to the area to prevent this, some by protecting Strom, others by defeating him and taking it.
The packs met in a large clearing in the Pine Barrens, where Strom seemed fairly shocked to find them. He met with members of the various packs, securing from many of them an agreement to found a Sept together. While the Black Spiral Dancers closed in, those present began to form up around him in a protective fashion. It seemed that Strom had found a place of safety.
Then, Pack Wyldfire arrived. Within minutes, they confronted Strom and beat him unconscious, then loped off into the woods with his body in tow. The rest of the Packs tracked them through the trees and arrived just in time to see a Silent Strider healing Strom and preventing the apparent disembowelment he had suffered from killing him. Pack Wyldfire held the Caern seed, and made it clear that they were willing to help found a Sept only with the permission of Sept Blood Fist.
Not long after this agreement was reached, Fire-touched, a Garou of Blood Fist, arrived. After he learned of the conditions by which the Packs had taken back the seed, he permitted the seed to remain, and a Caern to be founded.
The Alphas of the founding packs met, and agreed to accept Hunts-the-Broken as their Alpha. Screams-in-Darkness was named his Beta, and Jet Set the Master of Challenges. They went out to their Packs to make the announcements, and the assembled Garou came together to plant the seed and found the Sept of Gaia’s Vengeance.
In the intervening years, the Sept has held firm against all opposition. New Garou have joined the ranks, and others have fallen to battle or infirmity. Hunts-the-Broken continues to lead, and the Packs of the Sanctum and Concordat have fallen into a reasonable, if not always easy, cooperation and peace.
The Rage Across the Pine Barrens storytelling staff is as follows:
- Non-Wolf Based PCs
- Rage Across the Pine Barrens is a very WereWolf based game (emphasis on the Wolf) Other shifters (such as Rokea or Ananasi) are permitted only after the player agrees to the following terms:
- My character is very likely going to die.
- That death will almost certainly come at the hands of other player characters
- That you are playing on “hard mode” and as a result, will almost certainly die.
- That plots that mess with the type of Fera you are playing will not be altered because you are now playing that type.
- That the ST staff will ensure you have an understanding of the setting for both your Fera, the setting of the world it’s in, and how your character fits into that prior to approving any concepts.
- That you’re probably gunna die.
- Non-shifter PCs are not appropriate at this time
- BSD Infiltrators concepts will be reviewed on a case by case basis, but will carry with it the highest level of scrutiny.
Rage Across the Pine Barrens uses the current By Night Studios: Vampire the Masquerade ruleset, including all current errata and addenda published by the company. Any custom or house-ruled mechanics will be listed on our website.
The World of Darkness is exactly what it sounds like; dark, uncomfortable, and frightening. This game contains a great many mature themes, and it may not be suitable to all audiences. While we strive to provide a safe environment for all players, we rely on individual players to inform staff when a specific subject or scene is outside of their comfort zone so that appropriate steps can be taken. Never be afraid to speak up if you feel uncomfortable.
